Good news for holidaymakers who want to experience the |Ai |Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park in Namibia and South Africa: The border crossing at Sendelingsdrif is now open again. This was announced by the South African park authority SANParks.
The ferry across the Gariep (Orange) River is also operating again. Operation depends on the level of the river. At the end of June, exceptionally heavy winter rains caused the Gariep to overflow its banks.
The Sendelingsdrif border post is located south of Rosh Pinah and connects two parts of the |Ai |Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. It provides direct access to the Richtersveld from the Fish River Canyon and from the Wild Horses at Aus. The border post and ferry operate daily all week from 8:00 to 16:15.
