In future, visitors to Etosha National Park will be able to experience nature outside their vehicles in several places. The Namibian online newspaper "The Brief" reports that new fenced-in areas are being created for this purpose. The Ministry of Tourism has also announced that existing picnic areas will be renovated and improved. This includes toilets and new viewing platforms.

Eight existing sites will therefore receive renovated toilet facilities. The ministry spoke of 'comfort stops'. It named Andoni, Homob, Olifantsbad, Okerfontein, Sonderkop, Springbokfontein, Sprokieswoud and Thatch Roof. According to the report, two new sites will be added at M'Bari between Okaukuejo and Olifantsrus in the west of Etosha National Park.

In addition, the Andersson, Von Lindqequist and King Nehale Lya Mpingana entrance gates will be completely renovated. The entire renovation work should be completed by July 2025. The necessary amount of 40.7 million Namibian Dollar (a good 2 million euros; amount according to the current exchange rate, 1 N$ = 1 ZAR) is being provided by the German KfW development bank as part of its "NamParks" programme.

The Ministry of Tourism is also having facilities and picnic areas renovated in the park at the Hardap Dam in southern Namibia. The costs amount to 7.2 million Namibian dollars (a good 355,000 euros; amount according to the current exchange rate, 1 N$ = 1 ZAR) and are also being borne by KfW.
