Mokuti Etosha celebrates multi-million modernisation

By Admin
July 10, 2026

It may not exactly be the typical accommodation for the average holidaymaker. But it marks the completion of the multi-million modernisation of a historic lodge on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. Earlier this week, O&L Leisure inaugurated the newly constructed Ombala Presidential Suite at its Mokuti Etosha Lodge.

With this, the tourism division of the Ohlthaver & List group of companies has completed the modernisation of Mokuti (see report in the Windhoek Observer). The project began in 2022. O&L Leisure puts the total investment at 260 million Namibian dollars (currently about 13.9 million euros; amount at current exchange rate; 1 ZAR = 1 N$).

The official inauguration took place in the presence of Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare and numerous invited guests from the travel industry. The celebration was held at the newly constructed 'Sky Boma'. This restaurant, located on the shaded roof of an eight-meter-high cylindrical building, offers views over the treetops.

Mokuti now also features modernised standard rooms, upgraded junior suites, and redesigned common areas. Despite the extensive modernisation, O&L Leisure emphasises in its blog post that the classic charm of the lodge has been preserved.
