Art connecting Namibian nature, culture and identity

Tip for all Namibia vacationers spending a day or two in Windhoek in early July: The Omba Gallery. An exhibition by Namibian artist Jeremiah Haihambo is currently on display there. Its title: 'Wildlife Is My Asset – Culture Is My Roots'.

In his works, Haihambo reflects the diverse connections between wildlife and culture, as well as the identity of the people of Namibia. His works include paintings, prints and mixed-media pieces.

Each of his works can also be understood as an appeal to preserve the diversity of wildlife and cultural heritage in Namibia. Haihambo emphasised this during the exhibition opening (see video clip from the Facebook magazine 'Tjil' (like chill = relax, hang out) from 24 June 2026).

This theme runs like a thread through his artistic work to date. A joint exhibition with the artist Tuhafeni Nghiwilepo a year ago was titled 'Save my Culture, Save my Wildlife'.

Jeremiah Haihambo is based in Windhoek. He completed his artistic training at the College of the Arts (COTA). With his often socially critical works, he has already made a name for himself in Namibia.

'Wildlife Is My Asset – Culture Is My Roots' is Haihambo's first solo exhibition. His works are available for purchase. The exhibition at the Omba Gallery runs until 12 July. It is located in the Namibia Craft Centre in the city centre of Windhoek.
