Amphibolite

Introduction: This rock has been produced by regional metamorphism. It has been subjected to intense heat and pressure deep in the Earth's crust.

Distribution: Amphibolite is found in broad belts, such as the matchless amphibolite belt in central Namibia.

Composition: Amphibole minerals such as hornblende.

Colouration: Light green to black.

Uses: Crystals are used in jewellery.
