Viperine bark snake

Introduction: The Viperine Bark snake (Hemirhagerrhis viperinus) shelters in deep rock cracks in a habitat of granite outcrops in dry savannah.

Distribution: Isolated populations from Windhoek to Erongo Mountains as far north as Outjo.

Diet: Namibian day geckos and dwarf day geckos.

Colouring: Similar to Mopane snake but more boldly patterned back, less the dark vertebral stripe.

Breeding: Around 6 elongated eggs are laid.

Size: Max SVL male 270mm, female 295mm.
