Schinz's Beaked Blind snake are a small, slender species of blind snake.

Introduction: Schinz's Beaked Blind snake (Rhinotyphlops schinzi) are residents of semi-desert and arid savannah type regions. They are a small, slender species of blind snake, with a distinctive hooked snout.

Distribution: Southern Namib Desert, central highlands, Orange River and Kalahari Desert. The northern range includes parts of Etosha National Park.

Diet: Other invertebrates and termites.

Colouring: Blue-black to reddish-brown blotching can be found on a yellowish to flesh-coloured back. The markings also form crossbars on the back.

Breeding: Females lay between 2 to 4 eggs.

Size: Max SVL 278mm.
