Introduction: Eastern striped snakes (Lymnophis bangweolicus) have small heads that blend into the neck. They have large eyes with round pupils. Their scales are smooth and the tail is short.

Distribution: Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), Okavango Panhandle and upper Delta. The range continues to Victoria Falls.

Diet: Fish and frogs.

Colouring: The back is dark olive-brown edged with a paler stripe. The belly is yellow to dark red.

Breeding: Females lay a few eggs in a marshy habitat.

Size: Max SVL male 495mm, female 500mm.
