Introduction: Marbled Rubber frog (Phrynomantis annectens) have flattened, elongated bodies and small eyes. They inhabit dry environments, with rocky regions or inselbergs. Calls are from concealed locations on land and in water. Their long, insect imitating trill, usually last for around 12secs.

Distribution: The entire range of the Namib Desert, stretching inland to border the Kalahari Desert in the south and over the Erongo Mountains and high ground south of Opuwo in the north as far east as Grootfontein. Found in Brandberg and Spitzkoppe and the Fish River Canyon.

Diet: Insects.

Colouration: Dark brown, black or silver-back upperparts. There are many irregular patches of either red, pink, yellow, orange or silver on eve skin. The undersides are a smooth pinkish-brown.

Breeding: Tadpoles reach up to 50mm, form in schools and feed on suspended algae in winter.

Maximum size: 40mm.
