Introduction: Dombe Pygmy toads (Poyntonophrynes dombensis) were originally named after Domba in Angola. Habitats are grassland close to rocky outcrops in north-west Namibia coastal lowlands. They have flattened and slender bodies. Males usually commence calling after midnight in a series of short bleats.

Distribution: North-west Namibia including the Namib Desert, Skeleton Coast, Epupa Falls as far as Enyandi.

Diet: Insects such as ants, termites and spiders.

Colouration: Light to dark brown upperparts with small, dark blotches. There is a pale scapular patch and vertebral line lower down the back. The underside is clear.

Breeding: Breeds in rocky pools with a gravel substrate. Tadpoles grow up to 24mm.

Maximum size: 40mm.
