River scrambling acacia

River scrambling acacia: River scrambling acacia (Acacia schweinfurthii) are a multi-stemmed, sprawling shrub. The long, trailing branches of larger specimens enable this shrub to climb up to 20m. Habitats are confined to the wet, riverine, seasonally flooded regions surround Impalila Island in the far north-east of Namibia. This is the only known species of Acacia in the country that has a round inflorescence and curved thorns.

Other noticeable features include a smooth, light brown bark, yellowish-white flowers that grow on light green hairy stalks and a long, flat brown fruit pod. The flowers blossom from December to February.
