Woolly worm

Introduction: The body of a woolly worm (Orbinia angrapequensis) is divided into two regions. They have an anterior section with 18 to 24 flattened segments and a posterior region which gives off the 'woolly' appearance, hence the name. They are the main organisms in sandbanks and sheltered lagoons, where they can be found in great numbers.

Distribution: From Cape Cross south to Henties Bay, Wlozkasbaken, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, Sandwich Harbour and Luderitz.

Colouration: Light orange to yellow
