Introduction: Parabuthus leavipes dig shallow scrapes under rocks in compact sand and gritty soils. Habitats do move into marginal sand systems. Their venom is fairly potent, but not lethal.
Distribution: Southern and central Namibia including specific regions of the Namib Desert, Fish River Canyon, Keetmanshoop and the Quiver Tree Forest, the Orange River, Windhoek and Okahandja.
Diet: Insects and spiders.
Colouration: Brown to orange with 2 characteristic black (last) tail segments.
Breeding: Males grasp females by her pincers and heads for a smooth, hard rock or stone to unload.
Maximum size: 50mm
