Parabuthus brevimanus

Introduction: Parabuthus brevimanus dig shallow burrows at the base of shrubs in sandy areas. Shallow scrapes under rocks are another favoured habitat. They can give a nasty sting, not fatal because of the small amount of venom injected.
Distribution: Widespread throughout Namibia including Etosha National Park, the Namib Desert, Skeleton Coast, Caprivi Strip, Fish River Canyon, Kavango and Kunene River regions.
Diet: Ambushes insects and spiders from under the cover of vegetation.
Colouration: Overall dark orange to brown.
Breeding: Secures the female with their bulbous pincers
Maximum size: 50mm.
