Opistophthalmus wahlbergii

Introduction: Opistophthalmus wahlbergii give off a painful, but not life-threatening sting. Burrow entrances are usually found in the open, as opposed to vegetation or rocks. Depending on the hardness of the soil, burrows can reach over 1m in length.
Distribution: Throughout Namibia less for the southern Namib Desert.
Diet: Captures prey and takes it to the end chamber to feed.
Colouration: Shiny sandy coloured appearance with darker mid-body ridges.
Breeding: Young stay with their mother until the first instar. Up to 25 young per litter is common.
Maximum size: 110mm.
