The preferred habitat of the Hottentotta conspersus is to shelter under large rocks and boulders in sandy areas.

Hottentota conspersus

Introduction: The preferred habitat of the Hottentotta conspersus is to shelter under large rocks and boulders in sandy areas. Look for them under logs or the bark of dead fallen trees. Individuals have also been observed wandering around shady trees during the daytime.
Distribution: Northern Namib Desert and Skeleton Coast from Swakopmund north to the Kunene River mouth. Also found at Epupa Falls, Brandberg Mountains, Spitzkoppe and the Erongo Mountains.
Diet: Ants, termites and spiders.
Colouration: Dark yellow to brown. Most females have smooth and shiny sternites (an underside mid-body exoskeleton).
Breeding: Females give birth in the warmer, summer months. Litters of 12 are common.
Maximum size: 62mm.
