Introduction: River Dropwings (Trithemis pluvialis) are usually observed in the wooded edges of moving streams and rivers. Males like to overhang tree branches for territorial reasons. The Latin pluvialis means 'bringing the rain'.

Distribution: Only observed around the Kwando River.

Colouration: Red abdomen, brownish thorax, brown eyes and a pale brown frons. Both sets of wings have irregular amber spots at the base, the hindwing markings larger than those of the forewing.

Breeding: Females oviposit eggs in fresh water.

Flight season: Data deficient.

Conservation: Not threatened.
