Hamons sprite

Pseudagrion hamoni
The first recorded specimens of Hamon's Sprite are attributed to Jacques Hamon, a French entomologist, at Yabasso, Burkino Faso in June 1953.

Introduction: The first recorded specimens of Hamon's Sprite (Pseudagrion hamoni) are attributed to Jacques Hamon, a French entomologist, at Yabasso, Burkino Faso in June 1953. Sections of rivers appear to be the favoured Namibian habitat for this species, although a perennial spring, a degraded pool and a sand pit have also been home to Hamon's Sprite.

Distribution: Many sighting are restricted along the Kavango River and the Kunene River Valley.

Colouration: Males are very dark in appearance. Reddish-brown eyes and thorax.

Breeding: Females produce eggs during their entire adult lifespan.

Flight season: July to March less for the months of September and January.

Conservation: Not threatened.
