Small Orange Acraeas (Acraea eponina eponina) inhabit the edges of rainforests and other wooded areas with low plants.

Introduction: Small Orange Acraeas (Acraea eponina eponina) inhabit the edges of rainforests and other wooded areas with low plants.

Distribution: Widespread throughout northern Namibia.

Breeding: Larvae eat poisonous plants

Colouration: Orange with a broad black border on fore and hindwings. Orange dots are enclosed in this border. There is also comma-shaped black bar extending into the border. Females have more variable patterns than the males.

On the wing: Throughout the year especially in summer.

Wingspan: Male: 35 to 40mm. Female: 35 to 43mm.
