Redeye barb

Introduction: The redeye barb (Enteromius radiatus) is a species of freshwater fish belonging to the Cyprinidae family. It is native to certain regions in Namibia, where it inhabits rivers and streams with moderate to fast water flow.

Distribution: The redeye barb is found in specific river systems and streams in Namibia. It prefers clear waters with rocky or sandy substrates and areas with plenty of hiding spots among aquatic plants and driftwood.

Diet: The redeye barb is an omnivorous fish, feeding on small insects, crustaceans, algae, and plant matter.

Colouration: The redeye barb has a prominent red stripe that runs horizontally along the length of its body. The rest of the body is usually silver or light grey, and the fins may have a reddish or orange hue.

Breeding: The females can produce a significant number of eggs, and with proper care, the fry can be successfully raised.

Size: The redeye barb is a small to medium-sized fish, with adult individuals typically reaching lengths of about 5 to 7 centimetres.
