Introduction: Yellow wagtails (Motacilla flava) inhabit the edges of pans, short grass on floodplains and open mudbanks. Observations can be made in areas near water until the onset of rains, when they disperse around the countryside.

Distribution: Scattered locations in central and northern Namibia including Swakopmund, Etosha National Park, Caprivi Strip the Naukluft Mountain region.
Diet: Forages on the ground and chases insects in the air. Often seen searching for food around, cattle, antelopes and zebra. Eats beetles, bugs, ants and wasps, grasshoppers and flies.

Description: A short-tailed wagtail with some yellow or green in the plumage. Flava is Latin for 'yellow'.
Breeding: Extralimital.

Size: 17cm.

Weight: 22g.
