Carp's tit is named after the South African naturalist Bernard Carp.

Introduction: Carp's tit (Parus carpi) is named after the South African naturalist Bernard Carp (1901-1966) and are usually observed in pairs or small groups in savannah woodland on hills and escarpments. Ephemeral rivers fringed with dry woodland and farmhouse gardens are other known habitats.

Distribution: Near endemic to Namibia, locally common in the Namibian highlands and Namib Desert edges. Found in Etosha National Park, Epupa Falls.

Diet: Forages the crevices and leaves of lower tree branches for mainly insects and at times seeds.

Description: Glossy black head and grey head. Black edged tail, tipped with white. Black wings with white tipped bars.

Breeding: Usually 3 or 4 white or cream, oval eggs in a nest made of dry grass and a few leaves, incubated by both male and female.

Size: 15cm.

Weight: 20g.
