Fun Fact: Wedge-Snouted skinks shelter in short burrows dug in sand.

Introduction: Wedge-Snouted skinks (Mabuya acutilabris) shelter in short burrows dug in sand blown into the base of short tufts of grass or in small scrub. They prefer a desert scrubland type habitat.

Distribution: Northern Namib Desert, less for most coastal regions. The range extends south including Brandberg Mountain, Spitzkoppe to Solitaire.

Diet: Beetles, ant-lions and wasps are caught in sandy areas.

Colouring: The upper body is light brown with brown or black spots with white flecks forming short bands. The belly is white.

Breeding: Not known.

Size: Max SVL 60mm.
