Fun Fact: Kaokoland thick-toed geckos shelter in large rocks.

Introduction: Kaokoland thick-toed geckos (Pachydactylus oreophilus) shelter in large rocks, emerging at night from rock cracks to forage on vertical rock faces. They are a medium-sized gecko with a large head. The tail is longer than the body.

Distribution: Semi-desert regions from the Brandberg Mountain extending northwards to the Kunene River and far-western reaches of Kaokoland.

Diet: Small insects.

Colouring: The grey-brown back is decorated with scattered dark blotches.

Breeding: Females lay clutches of 2 eggs.

Size: SVL 40 to 50mm. Max SVL 57mm.
