Cape thicktoed gecko

Introduction: Cape thick-toed geckos (Pachydactylus capensis) are small to medium-sized geckos with a tail (that can regenerate) slightly longer than the body. They are terrestrial and can be found in disused termite mounds, rotting logs and under calcrete blocks in the Kalahari. Predators include snakes and small carnivores.

Distribution: Common throughout Namibia less for the Namib Desert.

Diet: They are on the lookout for small insects at night.

Colouring: A light-brown back to grey-brown with a white belly.

Breeding: Females lay clutches of 2 eggs in old termite mounds or under stones.

Size: SVL 40 to 60mm. Max SVL 67mm.
