Phrynobatrachus parvulus
Fun Fact: Features include a small body and a stubby looking snout.

Introduction: Small Puddle frogs (Phrynobatrachus parvulus) are common in their range. Features include a small body and a stubby looking snout. Evergreen forests and grassland are their main habitat range. Calls are a long cricket-like buzz, followed by a short series of clicks.

Distribution: From the western border of the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) eastwards to the Kwando River region. Also found in the Okavango Delta.

Diet: Aquatic insects.

Colouration: Light to dark olive-brown upperparts with an orange vertebral line or band. The underside is heavily spotted.

Breeding: Layers of eggs float to the surface for warmth, enabling a more rapid development.

Maximum size: 25mm.
