Introduction: Darling's Golden-Backed frog (Hylarana darlingi) are named after the 19th century naturalist and hunter, J. ffoliott-Darling. They inhabit grassland and open savannah and on occasions the edges of woodland or evergreen lowland forset. This species is never far from dams, streams or vleis.

Distribution: The extreme north-eastern ranges of the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) around the Zambezi River region.

Diet: Insects, spiders and earthworms.

Colouration: Broad golden, bronze or light-brown band stretches from the snout to the vent, either plain or speckled. The flanks are dark olive to black and the undersides are white with a grey throat and chest.

Breeding: There is no information as to the breeding habits of this species.

Maximum size: 72mm.
