Introduction: Box jellyfish (Carybdea robsoni) have a very deep characteristic, almost cube-shaped bell with four very long and distinct whip-like tentacles hanging from each of the 4 lower corners of the bell. Their potent stinging cells can give off a painful sting, the danger being they tend to occur in swarms.
Distribution: Throughout Namibian waters including the Skeleton Coast, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay and Luderitz.
Diet: Planktonic animals
Colouration: Transparent
Breeding: Young are produced from eggs
