Fun Fact: There are over 50 species in southern African waters.

Introduction: Mussel worms (Pseudonereis variegata) can be identified by their colour as well their cylindrical shape and 2 short tentacles with a pair of enlarged palps topped with nipple like partitions. As there are over 50 species in southern African waters, identification is usually by microscopic inspection. They are the most common worm living amongst seaweeds, on rocky shores or on mussels.

Distribution: Throughout Namibian waters

Diet: Eats small animals and seaweed

Colouration: Dark khaki green body

Breeding:  Not known

Max size: 150mm
