Idotea metallica
Fun Fact: Large numbers are found swimming in shallow waters in bays.

Introduction: Metallic isopods (Idotea metallica) have an elongated and parallel-sided body. Large numbers are often found swimming in shallow waters in sheltered bays. Drifting seaweeds also attract metallic isopods.

Distribution: Skeleton Coast regions such as Cape Fria, Rocky Point, Möwe Bay, Cape Cross, Henties Bay, Swakopmund and Luderitz.

Colouration: Shiny metallic-silver

Breeding: Eggs develop directly into adults

Max size: 30mm
