Fun Fact: It is a shell with up to 30 distinctive ridges

Introduction: The ruby lamp shell (Kraussina rubra) is a shell with up to 30 distinctive ridges breaking out from the posterior opening.

Habitat: They are found in small groups attached to the underside of loose rocks in some numbers as they are the most common brachiopod on the shore. Most common from the mouth of the Orange River north to Luderitz.  

Appearance: They are pink and about 20mm across.
