Fun Fact: It is the smallest of Namibia's three species of dormouse.

Introduction: The lesser savanna dormouse is the smallest of Namibia's three species of dormouse. It is similar in size and colour to its cousin, the woodland dormouse. As with the rock dormouse, very little has been studied about this creature. Some experts claim that it is nothing more than a smaller version of the woodland dormouse, which nests amongst grass and leaves.

Distribution: The same as the woodland dormouse.

Diet: They will hibernate in the winter if seeds and insects becomes scarce.

Colouring: Dark grey fur with white underparts with bushy, squirrel-like tails.

Breeding: As with the rock dormouse, very little is known other than their young are born in the summer.

Size: Three-quarters the size of the woodland dormouse.
