Dendromus mesomelas
Fun Fact: It climbs in areas of growth and makes nests from grass.

Introduction: Brant's climbing mouse (Dendromus mesomelas) is a pleasant little fellow that is active through the day and at night. It climbs around in areas of growth, where it can construct ball-shaped nests using shredded grass. Predators include snakes, barn owls and grass owls.

Distribution: The Caprivi area of Namibia.

Diet: Seeds and insects.

Colouring: Brown or blackish-brown upperparts with a mid-dorsal stripe running from the neck to the root of the tail. Paler flanks merge into a white belly.

Size: Average body length 76mm. Tail length 100mm.

Weight: 12g
