Fun Fact: The Parabuthus stridulus are easily identifiable by their shiny exoskeleton, common in the Namib Desert sand systems where they dig shallow burrows at the base of sparsely vegetation on the dunes themselves.
Introduction: The Parabuthus stridulus are easily identifiable by their shiny exoskeleton, common in the Namib Desert sand systems where they dig shallow burrows at the base of sparsely vegetation on the dunes themselves.
Distribution: From the Ugab River extending south through Cape Cross, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, Luderitz and down the southern Namib Desert as far as the Orange River.
Diet: Sits and waits for insects and spiders that walk or fly past.
Colouration: Brown to orange.
Breeding: Young stay under the protection of the female until they moult for the first time, a period which lasts at least 9 days.
Maximum size: 110mm.
