Opistophthalmus fitzsimonsi

Introduction: Opistophthalmus fitzsimonsi dig a burrow up to around 15cm deep, often in harder sandy soils. The entrances are often near the base of vegetation or by rocks.
Distribution: Central-western Namibia including Windhoek, Okahandja, Gobabis, Kalahari Desert.
Diet: Insects and spiders are positioned to be eaten head first.
Colouration: Orange-brown with darker pincers and lighter legs and tail segments.
Breeding: Males position females and attached them to a suitable object for spermatophore injection. Over 20 young are born per litter.
Maximum size: 65mm.
