Fun Fact: Swamp Darters are only found in swamps and large, slow-moving water bodies.

Introduction: Swamp Darters (Sympetrum navasi) are only found in swamps and large, slow-moving water bodies. They are sometimes easier to observe from a boat as they perch on the water side in reeds.

Distribution: The floodplains of the Caprivi Strip, Kwando and Chobe Rivers in northern Namibia

Colouration: Red abdomen and thorax in both male and female.

Breeding: Females are guarded by males in tandem as she lays her eggs when touching the water in flight.

Flight season: November and December.

Max size: Small to medium-sized dragonflies.

Conservation: Not threatened.
