Fun Fact: The Phantom Flutterer can be observed at waters with vegetation and a thick-tangled mass of floating algae.

Introduction: The Phantom Flutterer (Rhyothemis semihyalina) can be observed at waters with vegetation and a thick-tangled mass of floating algae. The hindwings are characteristic transparent, hence the Latin semi or 'half' and hyalinus 'transparent'.

Distribution: Kavango, Kwando, Chobe and Zambezi River floodplains, Onesi Dam, Otavi Mountains, Damaraland, Von Bach Dam, Daan Viljoen and Hardap Dams.

Colouration: Less dark in the wings than the other 2 species of Flutterer.

Breeding: Male and female ratios are almost 50/50.

Flight season: October to April.

Conservation: Not threatened.
