Introduction: Male Denim Dropwings (Trithemis donaldsoni) perch on the ground, hence their preference for rocks in rivers or lakes. They were named after the American explorer, Dr A Donaldson-Smith on an expedition into the Erer River in Ethiopia.
Distribution: Kunene and Kavango Rivers, Von Bach Dam near Okahandja and the Oanob Dam.
Colouration: Blue pruinosity of the thorax and abdomen in adult males.
Breeding: Egg development is between 2 to 4 weeks.
Flight season: Throughout the year in the north and July and August, November to January and March to May, which is also their flight season in central Namibia.
Max size: 43mm.
Conservation: Not threatened.
