Fun Fact: African Pygmy Baskers are a small dragonfly with a broad abdomen.

Introduction: African Pygmy Baskers (Aethriamanta rezia) are a small dragonfly with a broad abdomen. Males perch at water, resting on tree and bush twigs, leaving for to engage on brief feeding sorties.

Distribution: Kavango, Kwando, Linyati and Chobe Rivers as well as temporary rain pools along various other locations along the Caprivi Strip.

Colouration: Blood red body with amber basal spots on the hindwing.

Breeding: Females are guided in tandem by males to an oviposition site before being released.

Flight season: October to April.

Conservation: Not threatened as long as floodwaters are healthy.
