Fun Fact: A Striped Policeman is common and widespread and can be observed along the edge of rainforests and savannah habitats.

Introduction: A Striped Policeman (Coellades forestan) is common and widespread and can be observed along the edge of rainforests and savannah habitats. They are active from early dawn to dusk searching for nectar.

Distribution: Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) .

Breeding/Larval food: Black scent hairs are squeezed out from the tip of the abdomen which when they come into contact with leaves, mark a scent trail.

Colouration: Uniform brown with a hint of grey. The hindwing is dark brown and there is a broad white band on the underside of the hindwing.

On the wing: Throughout most months of the year.

Wingspan: 40 to 65mm.
