Fun Fact: Small Yellow Banded Acraeas (Acraea acerata) vary in size, some are very small, and colouration. A common marshland species, they are slow in flight and tend to stay close to riverine bush netted quite easily.

Introduction: Small Yellow Banded Acraeas (Acraea acerata) vary in size, some are very small, and colouration. A common marshland species, they are slow in flight and tend to stay close to riverine bush netted quite easily.

Distribution: Rundu , Kavango Region, Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) and along the Kavango and Zambezi Rivers.

Breeding: Clusters of eggs are laid on the leaves of plants.

Colouration: Tawny-orange patches on both wings with a very pale ochreous subapical band on both male and female.

On the wing: All year round.

Wingspan: Male: 40mm. Female: 40 to 45mm.
