Acraea (A) hypoleuca
Fun Fact: Namibian Acraeas (Acraea (A) hypoleuca) fly in gullies where their favoured food plant grow.

Introduction: Namibian Acraeas (Acraea (A) hypoleuca) fly in gullies where their favoured food plant grow.

Distribution: Farm Mooiriver and in the Maltahohe district. Also on the Zaris Mountains and from Rössing in the south to the Ogams Fountain in Kaokoland .

Breeding/Larval food: Partial to Adenia pechulii where larvae have been found. Clusters of between 8 and 15 have been found at the base on the buds and shoots.

Colouration: Dark brown borders on both fore and hind wings enclosing lighter spots on the outer margins. A light orange patch is evident on the forewing.

On the wing: December to June, peaking in January and February.

Wingspan: 50mm.
