Breeding: Larval host plants include various species of nettles.

Colouration: Black ground colour with orange red or orange brown patches stretching from the forewing to a large part of the hindwing. There are some black spots on the hindwing.

On the wing: All year round.

Wingspan: Male: 55 to 60mm. Female: 45 to 55mm.
