Fun Fact: Ashen Smokey Blues (E. subpallida) are a grassland species. Some specimens have been observed in savannah habitats. They perch with their wings closed and are fond of nectar.

Introduction: Ashen Smokey Blues (E. subpallida) are a grassland species. Some specimens have been observed in savannah habitats. They perch with their wings closed and are fond of nectar.

Distribution: Fairly common around Grootfontein and Tsumeb.

Breeding/Larval food: Minute blue or green eggs are laid on flowers, seed pods or growing tips of their respective food plants. The young larvae can then burrow into the plant.

Colouration: A lighter underside than Sabi Smokey Blue with distinctive darker white circled spots.

On the wing: The 'early summer months'.

Wingspan: 30mm.
