Fun Fact: A subspecies of Acara Acraea (Acraea (A) acraea), A (A) acara melanophanes occurs in wooded areas such as Terminalia and Pruniodes, fluttering slowly along its route, often resting on leaves on trees or on flowers.

Introduction: A subspecies of Acara Acraea (Acraea (A) acraea), A (A) acara melanophanes occurs in wooded areas such as Terminalia and Pruniodes, fluttering slowly along its route, often resting on leaves on trees or on flowers.

Distribution: Rundu , Kavango River and from Ruacana to the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) . Also occurs as far south as Grootfontein .

Breeding: Larval host food plants include Passiflora spp.

Colouration: A large black area on the forewing from the discal band extending t the base.

On the wing: Throughout the year.

Wingspan: 50mm.
