Introduction: The Kunene catlet (Zaireichthys kunenensis) is one of eight new species in the dwarf catfish genus 9identified in 2011.

Distribution: The Kunene catlet is native to the Kunene River basin, specifically in the northwestern regions of Namibia and Angola.

Diet: In its natural habitat, the Kunene catlet feeds on a variety of small aquatic insects, crustaceans, and algae.

Colouring: This tetra species is characterized by its possession of a relatively broad premaxillary tooth patch with postero-lateral extensions, shimmering silver body and distinct horizontal black stripe that runs along its side. During certain lighting conditions, the stripe can appear iridescent.

Reproduction: The Kunene catlet engages in egg scattering for reproduction.

Size: The Kunene catlet typically grows to a length of about 2.5 cm.
