Multibar citharin

Introduction: The multibar citharine (Nannocharax multifasciatus) is a small freshwater fish known for its striking colouration and social behaviour. It is often found in large schools, particularly in areas with dense vegetation and slow-moving waters.

Distribution: Found in various regions of Namibia, particularly in slow-moving rivers, streams, and swamps.

Diet: Feeds on small invertebrates, aquatic insects, and zooplankton.

Colouring: Silver body with multiple dark vertical bands along its sides, giving it a banded appearance.

Breeding: Breeds during the rainy season, with the female scattering her eggs among aquatic plants.

Size: Grows up to 4 cm in length.
