Fun Fact: Grey-headed albatrosses favour the open ocean.

Introduction: Grey-headed albatrosses (Thalassarche chrysostoma) favour the open ocean. Although usually observed singly, they scavenge at fishing vessels along the shelf-break with a variety of species.

Distribution: Ichaboe Island and vagrant in central Namibia.

Diet: Surface-seizes and dives at dawn and dusk mainly for fishery discards and offal.

Description: Head, neck, upper wing dark grey. White rump and darker grey back. Chrysostoma is Greek for 'golden mouth' referring to the prominent bill pattern.

Breeding: Extralimital.

Size: 80cm.

Weight: 3.5kg.

Wingspan: 2m.
