Introduction: Rufous-tailed palm-thrushes (Cichladusa ruficauda) favour riverine woodland and forests supporting northern lala palms. They are never far from these trees, except when in fairly tall riverside vegetation.
Distribution: Epupa Falls and around the Kunene River valley west of Ruacana.
Diet: Forages in leaf litter for beetles and spiders and fruit fibres from the Oil Palm.
Description: A medium-sized robin with a strong bill and a rich and varied song sheet. Ruficauda refers to the 'red tail'.
Breeding: Both male and females contribute to nest building, who often find song posts to perform when bringing plant materials to the nesting site. From 2 to 4 eggs are laid in either November or from March to April.
