Fun Fact: Rufous-bellied tits inhabit well-developed woodland, especially those with large trees covered in lichens.

Introduction: Rufous-bellied tits (Parus rufiventris) inhabit well-developed woodland, especially those with large trees covered in lichens. Little is known of the habits of this species other than they are usually observed in pairs or small groups.

Distribution: North-eastern Namibia only. Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip) and Kaudom Game Park.

Diet: Eating habits are not known, other than they forage in the tree canopy for caterpillars.

Description: Glossy black head and grey back. Black wings edged with white, pale yellow eyes, blue-grey legs and feet. Rufiventris is Latin for 'red-bellied'.

Breeding: Between 3 and 4 eggs are laid in November in a soft pad of dry grass and incubated by both male and female.

Size: 14cm.

Weight: 20g.
